documenta IX

A new dimension of crossing
The artist was invited to show work at Kassel in the ninth iteration of documenta, curated by Jan Hoet with the assistance of a group that included Bart de Baere, Pier Luigi Tazzi, and Denys Zacharopoulos. The event, with the central theme of the singularity of the human being and its corporeal essence, expressed in the motto “From body to body to bodies,” was scattered in various spaces in the city (museums, plus several temporary pavilions), and included artists of different generations from all over the world, with whom the curator activated a dialogue that formed the basis for the construction of the show. Inside the historic complex of the Fridericianum museum, Salvadori presented—together with a Verticale, 1991 (1992), placed in an intimate, cozy space—the large site-specific work Stanza nel momento, 1992, composed of 111 parts in lead, cut and folded, arranged on the four walls of a room. The dimension of crossing, already pertaining to the work, was amplified here on an environmental scale to accentuate its experiential character.
