Ottava, 1989

8 elements: pencil, copper, watercolor on paper
38 × 27,5 cm
Un'immagine di capienza
"Ottava . . . devoted to an image of capacity, that of drinking glasses, and the triad. There were eight variations on the motif, punctuated by the insertion of color in correspondence with the two intervals of the musical octave, at the third and the seventh. "
(Filippo Bosco, "Dwelling in Drawing: Remo Salvadori's Works on Paper", in Remo Salvadori, ed. Antonella Soldaini [Milan: Skira, 2025], 73)
The sequence of chalice cups
"Chalices belong to the family of vessels such as bowls, bottles, and beakers, which appear in Salvadori’s work as elementary objects in various contexts and materials. In this image, the cup of the chalice appears three times in three different colors. The sequence of chalice cups is not an excerpt from a continuing progression, but a self-contained figure."
(Dieter Schwarz, Triad, in Remo Salvadori, catalogue of the exhibition in Milan, Palazzo Reale, Museo del Novecento, chiesa di San Gottardo in Corte, July 2 - September 14, 2025, curated by Elena Tettamanti and Antonella Soldaini [Cinisello Balsamo: Silvana Editoriale, 2025], 282-283)
