Triade, 1999

watercolor, quartz, paper
39 × 29 × 5 cm
Threefold chalice
"In repetition, the representation comes closer to its secret model without being able to fully exploit and complete it. This cannot be its true purpose; rather, repetition insists on the model presented and brings it into being again and again—brings it to life. So, there is a first small-format version (from 1989) of Triad, the image of the threefold chalice cup fanned out in primary colors, from which Salvadori subsequently developed other variants in different formats. To him, each of them evokes the memory of a specific moment, allowing the model to be interpreted and reproduced in a new way, for example in a watercolor painting in which the Triad is tripled."
(Dieter Schwarz, Triad, in Remo Salvadori, catalogue of the exhibition in Milan, Palazzo Reale, Museo del Novecento, chiesa di San Gottardo in Corte, July 2 - September 14, 2025, curated by Elena Tettamanti and Antonella Soldaini [Cinisello Balsamo: Silvana Editoriale, 2025], 282)
