The water of the fountains, and then the music
"Arriving in Carrara for the first site visit, I met a priest who was emerging from the spaces of the church with a bicycle, an image of bygone days, and he told me ‘go into the church right away, there is an organist playing.’ We entered, Luciano Massari and I, and we listened to that music in silence. The memory of it became very strong inside me, so the entire work . . . has a very vivid bond with this initial moment, the water of the fountains, and then the music."
