A dynamic equilibrium inspired by the substance of the planets
"Salvadori felt he had to install himself in the center of the lead so as to arrive at its secret and reveal it. The practice was not experienced as a subjective appropriation. On the contrary, the artist entered into a dynamic relationship with the object, almost letting it guide his hand. The Pythagorean grid of squares and triangles impressed with a box cutter has a maieutic rather than controlling value. In one rotation some parts are lifted and folded back. The fingers seek to free up the spaces in accordance with the internal system of organization of the material, following the ribs plastically. No anticipation of the result is possible, as it is revealed only through the transference of the moment. Nel momento is the title, in fact, of all the compositions of this kind, which in the vertical series 'lead, tin, iron, copper, mercury, silver, gold' (Alfabeto, 2013 [2016]) find a dynamic equilibrium inspired by the substance of the planets. The metals—this is the decisive aspect—become what they are only over the course of the process, because their essence is revealed through the energy of the work."
