Verticale, 2000 (2005)

copper, steel
200 x ø 44 cm
Una complessità risolta
"Verticale is a further development of the rolled-up sheet of copper, held together here not by a wire of the same material but by a ring of steel of the family of Continuo infinito presente. A balance is thus created between different polarities—represented respectively by copper, a flexible element connected with the female principle, and iron, a rigid element linked to the male—for which the iron ring, lightened, detaches from the floor and rises, while the copper takes on a stable, solid form: in this sense Verticale 'demonstrates itself to be a resolved complexity'."
(Laura Conconi, Maria Corti, Chronology, in Remo Salvadori, ed. Antonella Soldaini [Milan: Skira, 2025], 401)
